About Busi

About Busi
BE FULLY PRESENT, KEEP REFLECTING, LEARN CONTINUOUSLY AND KEEP EVOLVING

Busi is a social change catalyst and has over a decade of work experience in a variety of sectors namely, civil society, local government, corporate and academia. The service that I offer in coaching and facilitating mixed gender groups is to create a solid container that allows multiplicity of contexts and an allowing atmosphere where teams and individuals can feel safe to be self-aware thereby connecting to the Self and connect to others authentically in private life and at their workplaces. Reflect Coaching Life Skills is a social enterprise with a focus on people development and was founded in 2015. When invited to work with larger projects, I have a pool of independent facilitators to draw from.

My work is more about continually checking internally who am I being in the moment, checking whether I am living in authenticity. I thrive on passing my ethos to my clients because I completely bring the whole of me into my work, social spaces, and workplace including within my family. I cut my teeth in facilitating big group workshops serving in 2006 at The Institute for the Healing of Memories where I learned to facilitate Peace and Reconciliation workshops in South Africa. Working with a variety of societal structures from prisoners, theologian students, religious organisations, community leaders, the homeless and ex-combatants enabled me to create a safe, sacred space for those on a healing life journey. My perception always is, everyone has a story to tell and I always offer my presence to hold space and deeply listen without judgement.

Coming out of the turmoil of experiences under oppression and struggle for freedom I sought to live a purposeful life from a young age. I relate a purposeful life to offering service to those in need which has always been a big part of who I am. Offering service to my peers and upcoming leaders and living a purposeful life has remained the same throughout my transformation from a clueless teenager to a caring Purposeful Coach. The articulation and sensing of my call to purpose was sought mostly by utilising the modality of journaling and sensing. I use this approach very much and forms a big part of my reflective moments that I use when coaching clients with whom I am naturally intrigued by their diversity and resilience.

What I bring is strongly moulded by overcoming my diverse experiences in facilitating community healing, assisting clients facing challenges with creating financial freedom and those desiring flexibility in working with difficult customer experiences at work in organisations. I live in Cape Town (South Africa) which I use as my base for coaching and facilitation, however am available to meet clients from across the world. My husband and 2 kids live with me. Colleagues say that I am good at facilitating crucial and courageous conversations that allow systemic shifts. As an individual, the core of my make up as a black woman is made up of knowing and owning my power and fully living it by not compromising my self-worth.

COACHING

Coaching is a growth process in which self-awareness and ownership are facilitated. It's about creating a big vision and working towards that, not just fixing problems and I'm of a conviction that purpose is a contribution to the world that uses your whole self fully and gives your life meaning, passion and fulfilment through dedication to something larger than yourself. Your destiny can be like a "connecting the dots" on a drawing board which will unfold over time. In our professional coaching engagement I seek to capacitate others on their journey of finding inner healing and self-discovery in order to ignite potential. You will be held accountable and supported in stepping into self awareness and you will be supported to be able to make the best transformative choices in whatever circumstances you find yourself. Your life journey can be like a "connecting the dots" on a drawing board which will unfold over time.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FACILITATOR

Spaces where people are going through seasons of change and growth, seeking greater alignment, connection and effectiveness is meaningful work to me. I have accumulated a decade of experience in Peace and Reconciliation, Employee Engagement, Communication and Effectiveness, Diversity and Inclusion, Culture Change and in facilitating stakeholder meaningful, crucial and courageous dialogues. Deep and meaningful facilitation requires the ability to hold the space with compassion, to understand diverse perspectives and to meta-listen. Being present in the moment and my calm demeanour are the principles used to step into my work. I can work with small or large number of groups and the number of delegates I have worked with range from 6 to 180.

DIVERSITY and INCLUSION

I believe that transformation, diversity and inclusion is far from a numbers game of replacing one race with another in an organisation, it is much deeper than just race but requires culture change. Organisational Effectiveness and Culture Change is one that is complex and is a deep underlying trajectory. The workshops of this nature conducted focus on embedding compassion through story narratives to deepen a culture of inclusion.

Features

No-Name Initiative Dialogues

The purpose of the NNI is to create safe and courageous spaces for people to process the underlying emotional material and allow the marginalised voices to come to the fore and shift the systemic power distribution. I have been giving my time at the NNI since 2014 to date, facilitating community healing dialogues in various societal structures. The process allows any community group of people/team: - To access or see itself on a systemic level. - Engage, identify and work through issues and blockages - Discover new understanding and ways of relating - Co-create new alignment and ways of being proactive citizens of your emerging culture - Following the shift, new awareness are carried over into action-specific commitments/actions are made by each individual in the group to take out. http://www.no-name-initiative.com/

The Institute for the Healing of Memories

The Institute for Healing of Memories (IHOM) seeks to contribute to lasting individual and collective healing that makes possible a more peaceful and just future. I have contributed in the facilitation of workshops and events within the organisation that enable people from different racial, religious and social backgrounds to reach a better understanding of themselves and of each other in a safe and supportive space and are supported to confront sources of alienation, misunderstanding and personal suffering. The Institute believes that when personal stories are heard and acknowledged, individuals feel encouraged and empowered and dignity is restored, at the same time bridges can be built across communities and a common path forged based on mutual understanding and shared values. My involvement with the institute for the Healing of Memories began in 2009 to date.

Tertiary Business Studies in Business Administration (TSiBA)

TSiBA is a unique, private, not for profit business school that helps people who cannot access opportunities to jump ahead in life. TSiBA does this by providing emerging leaders with full-tuition scholarship to study towards our high quality, accredited academic courses that are focused on developing entrepreneurship and leadership. I have been giving my time in their WomanKind Camp since 2015 to date, which falls under their self-development and leadership course. It is about exploring the deep feminine and life passage, which engages the women students in their life stages, the threshold crossed and those yet to come. It focuses on the beginnings, childhood, adolescence and first brave steps into adulthood, tracing useful and dysfunctional patterns and behaviours that have been born out of life-experiences. The women are invited to fully step in and to be present.
